The Pnuma Selkirk Jacket has everything you would wish for in a weatherproof hunting jacket. Its waterproof membrane is incredibly breathable and warm without being bulky. Plus, it's soft, flexible, and whisper-quiet even when cold. That means you stay warmer, dryer, and more silent even in the harshest conditions, and that's guaranteed for life.
Be prepared for anything the elements can throw at you. In extreme weather, comfort is measured by how dry and warm you stay. The hunting industry measures it by Moisture Vapor Transfer (MVT) ratings for waterproofness and breathability. The higher the MVT rating, the drier, and more comfortable you will be. Until now, the highest breathability ratings on the market were between 20,000 and 50,000. The breathability rating of the ultra-thin Porelle Extreme membrane in the Pnuma Selkirk Jacket checks in at an unstoppable 120,000. Selkirk's super micro-brushed Tricot outer fabric is deadly quiet, protected with 3M DWR for water repellency, and features world-class YKK waterproof zippers. The Pnumagrid fleece lining focused on your core warmth allows you to comfortably layer up or down as conditions demand. To complete the package, added protection from PnumaGuard™ non-slip, wear-resistant overlays on jacket shoulders and elbows will protect your investment for years to come. And that's guaranteed for life.

So before buying something worth 300 dollars it is nice to do some research. I looked all around for a camo jacket which had what I wanted which was; waterproof and windproof, breathable, good for pretty cold weather, and not some bulky $600 parka. I looked everywhere for something to meet these specifications, from Sitka to Kryptek to Eberlestock. I found some nice stuff out there, but either I was unsure how it would feel or it was another overpriced windbreaker. Or if it did look good, it was in fact far overpriced.
I was able to actually try this Pnuma brand at a nearby Scheels, and I liked it. I don’t think it runs large or small.
I bought the Selkirk jacket, size large. I am 6’2 and 200lbs, and the large is just right.
Here are some more thoughts on the Selkirk: I wondered at the term “silent zippers” because it seems counter intuitive, but what that phrase means is that the zippers are spring loaded to stay flat, and not jingle around as you move. All the zippers on the Selkirk are silent zippers, all but one; the front main zipper has two zippers, the one you zip up to your chin is silent, but the one that stays at the bottom is not. It is one zipper and has not much to jingle against, but I wonder why they left it.
Another feature that I did not know about till I had the jacket was, on the back of the hood there is a vertical velcro strap so you can adjust how much hood you need. (How much the hood is forward over your forehead.)
The tighter stretchy sleeves inside the sleeves is a good bonus for keeping snow out.
While the Waypoint has a smoother shell, the Selkirk has a kind of fuzzy outer feel to it so though waterproof, is decently quiet.
The Selkirk is made in the UK, and so far have not had any issues or qualms about the quality of craftsmanship.
One more side detail about it is the camo pattern blends well with other camos, whether more arid, lighter patterns, or darker greeny patterns, so it a pretty versatile pattern.
Wore it in 40 degree weather and it worked well, looking forward to trying it out in colder weather.
Whenever it’s cold enough for a jacket, this is now my must wear gear. Really well designed and constructed. I haven’t tested it in truly cold conditions yet, but with layers it should work great during those late Fall snow storms near timberline.
I wore the jacket several times during this spring turkey season in light snow as well as heavy rain. It worked great. Along with the Selkirk pants, this is my favorite hunting apparel purchase in over 5 decades of hunting. 10 star rating!
Firstly, I bought this set as I'm in the process of losing weight so while it's still snug, I'm hoping to get to a point where I can liberally layer under it as I thought it would be a little more insulated based on the description of harshest of elements clothing which is the only reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 which still may seem unfair. So a word of caution, unless this set has some incredible weight to warmth ratio, plan on liberal layering in very cold Temps. Other then that, I love it!
I love this Jacket. I am 6'6 280 lbs and this jacket is perfect. Its long enough where i know i will be comfortable under any conditions, and that is something I haven't been able to get from any other company. I ordered a XXLT and couldnt be happier. I cant wait to get this out in the field more this year.
I’d wear this jacket everyday if I could. This Jacket is warm, very comfortable, heavy duty material, great fit. I can’t say enough good things about it. Im definitely a customer for life
