Overview

Be prepared for anything the elements can throw at you. In extreme weather, comfort is measured by how dry and warm you stay. The hunting industry measures it by Moisture Vapor Transfer (MVT) ratings for waterproofness and breathability. The higher the MVT rating, the drier, and more comfortable you will be. Until now, the highest breathability ratings on the market were between 20,000 and 50,000. The breathability rating of the ultra-thin Porelle Extreme membrane in the Pnuma Selkirk Jacket checks in at an unstoppable 120,000. Selkirk's super micro-brushed Tricot outer fabric is deadly quiet, protected with 3M DWR for water repellency, and features world-class YKK waterproof zippers. The Pnumagrid fleece lining focused on your core warmth allows you to comfortably layer up or down as conditions demand. To complete the package, added protection from PnumaGuard™ non-slip, wear-resistant overlays on jacket shoulders and elbows will protect your investment for years to come. And that's guaranteed for life.

Comfort in the dry.

Really like the Selkirk Jacket. Super dry in heavy rain. Wish I could get Selkirk pant in the solid color to match my jacket.

Warm and waterproof!

Great fit, warm, quiet, just what I was looking for. A solid jacket, rain or shine. I would strongly recommend this fine jacket.

Great jacket

Recently purchased this jacket and put to use deer hunting. With proper layering I was comfortable enough sitting on stand in the high 20’s. This is not a thick jacket and not meant for very low temperature tree stand hunting so it performed better than expected. If on the move it is very warm. Took a short walk with the dog in single digit temps with 30mph wind= around -30 with merino wool hoodie and 3/4 zip and was not cold.
I am 6’6” and 235 lbs. The XLT fits perfect.

Good....but

I have to admit I had a little bit of a buildup to this jacket and it let me down slightly, it is not as warm as I anticipated and it just doesn't seem like it was worth the premium price paid for it. It is growing on me though so I suppose I will give it four stars...

Not just for hunting . . .

I purchased the Selkirk jacket about a month back, and I have been very happy with it. I wore the jacket at a miserable college football game in 45 degree weather and a driving rainstorm with gusts around 25-30 mph. Sat in the exposed south endzone (hello north wind) and stayed dry as a bone for 3 hours of getting hammered by rain. Bulletproof. It does not wet out in the sleeves, the hood is secure in wind, and the jacket has a temp range of around 25f to 65f (though not if you're sitting in a deer stand -- you're going to want to layer up at anything below 35-40f). As for fit, I'm 6 ft 175 and am happy with the medium.

What surprised was how good this jacket is for fly fishing. It's a little long for wading (wish they made a short version in addition to the tall), but the elastic cord hem allows you to tuck the jacket and keep it out of the water). The side vents enable access to your waders and shirt pockets without unzipping the main, the two chest pockets are just where you need them when in waders and easily hold fly boxes, the sleeve pocket is perfect for storing a tin or small flybox, and the safety harness slot in the back allows you to connect your landing net to the wader suspenders. For fly fishing, only thing I'd add is two cord loops or fabric tabs to attach zingers for nippers and forceps; in their absence, I've been using the loops created by the hood cord on each side of the jacket for my zingers. Not elegant, but works.

Really like the double main zipper and the waterproof pocket zippers (a big plus when wading). And Pnuma is smart to use slick material for sleeve lining. Makes getting in and out so much easier than a nappy lined sleeve. I also like the inner neoprene sleeve cuffs, but I think they could improve the design by removing the velcro cuff tabs from the outside of the sleeve and putting the velcro tabs instead on the neoprene cuffs. This would eliminate a potential snag point and allow you to cinch down the neoprene and prevent water from going down your arm.

All-in-all, Pnuma approached this jacket with a lot of thought, and they've created a breathable weather beater that works great for both hunting and fishing.
