Central Colorado Bull Elk 2024

I have a very close friend that I’ve been Elk Hunting with for the last 20 years and we used to go to a certain spot. Well, that certain spot is now becoming more and more difficult to go to.  So, we were looking for something new to hang our hats on. I was lucky to come across this wonderful place in Central Colorado. It did not only meet the expectations, but it exceeded my expectations.

The bull that I was very lucky to harvest was intended for one of my other friends, Jeff. I asked Jeff to go set up next to a set of trees 40 yards ahead of me, then I would do some calling for him. What happened next only took a matter of seconds. I called in this bull with a cow and the cow ran right in front of Jeff. Jeff stayed frozen as the bull passed him and before I knew it the bull was 20 yards next to me! I haven’t even knocked an arrow yet so I quickly knocked an arrow and then instinct kicked in. The shot landed and I was able to harvest this great 5 x 5.

Let’s just say the three of us have found a new place and create new memories at this new location.
