Overview

Hot. Cool. Cold. Don’t put your tongue on the pump handle cold. As hunters we have to deal with all those conditions. Sometimes in the same day. Sometimes, the same hour. That’s why we chose buttery soft, amazingly comfortable 100% New Zealand Merino Wool as the foundation of our Merino Wool Pullover hunting base layer. But, we’ve taken the best of Merino Wool and made it even better by adding SilverStrike™ anti-microbial for added odor control to keep you and your gear fresher in the field.

Designed and delivered to keep you comfortable no matter if the world around you is 20-degrees and you’re 27 feet up in a tree stand or stalking to close the deal in temperatures that rise as the day gets longer and cold as the day gets shorter. The Pnuma Merino Wool next-to-skin base layer knows when to keep you cool, warm, and dry. And it works even harder than Merino Wool alone to keep odors away. Those Merino sheep are technological marvels on 4 legs. But, by making their wool even better? We know what we’re doing, too.

A limited review...

So, I have been wanting to try marino wool base layers for a while, and since my old lightweight synthetic military bottoms started giving up the ghost, and Pnuma was having a sale, I figured the time was right to jump. Now, I just want to point out that this was a limited review, as I have only had the chance to wear the bottoms about six times, give or take, and it was mostly static use in what I would call mild winter conditions with temps ranging from the high 20's to the low 40's. For that reason alone, I was only able to give 4 stars since I have not had the opportunity to see how they perform under much colder temps, or under higher activity levels where moisture management would be a factor. Given that, I can say they were very satisfactory so far. The fit is excellent, as well as the warmth/comfort of the material. It feels quite sturdy, and has ample stretch, so should not bind during movement. Quality of construction seems to be quite good as well: the elastic looks like it should give many years of service, and the stitching is sturdy and well done. As a matter of opinion, I think they could easily forgo one, or both of the embroidered logos, as it is a bit much given that the branding is all over the elastic waistband - cut that, cut the cost to have it done, and pass the couple of bucks savings on to the customers. I am looking forward to seeing how they perform over the long haul under more extreme conditions, and will probably pick up the matching top for next hunting season.

Great Base Layer

Great base layer, great fit, long enough for my long legs. Breaths great and dries fast.

Very warm and comfortable

Very warm and comfortable use as a base layer, or even on its own on warmer days.

Two thumbs up

Purchased these about a month ago and just used them the first time this past weekend (October 14-15). It’s still early season, but they performed well in 40 degree weather. Soft, comfortable, lightweight, and warm. I definitely recommend.
