FAQs

Are these pants warm enough for late-season hunts?
Yes. The insulating power of merino wool provides excellent warmth when layered under mid or outer layers—ideal for cold weather hunts.

Do these base layers control scent?
Absolutely. Merino wool is naturally antimicrobial, helping suppress body odor during long sits or multi-day hunts without washing.

Can I wear these under hunting bibs or pants?
Yes. The athletic fit is designed for smooth layering, fitting comfortably under outer garments without bunching or riding up.

Do they wick sweat during high activity?
They do. Merino wool pulls moisture away from your body while remaining breathable, keeping you dry even when covering ground quickly.

Will they stretch out or shrink?
No. The fabric is pre-shrunk and built to maintain its shape through heavy use and repeated washing.

A limited review...

So, I have been wanting to try marino wool base layers for a while, and since my old lightweight synthetic military bottoms started giving up the ghost, and Pnuma was having a sale, I figured the time was right to jump. Now, I just want to point out that this was a limited review, as I have only had the chance to wear the bottoms about six times, give or take, and it was mostly static use in what I would call mild winter conditions with temps ranging from the high 20's to the low 40's. For that reason alone, I was only able to give 4 stars since I have not had the opportunity to see how they perform under much colder temps, or under higher activity levels where moisture management would be a factor. Given that, I can say they were very satisfactory so far. The fit is excellent, as well as the warmth/comfort of the material. It feels quite sturdy, and has ample stretch, so should not bind during movement. Quality of construction seems to be quite good as well: the elastic looks like it should give many years of service, and the stitching is sturdy and well done. As a matter of opinion, I think they could easily forgo one, or both of the embroidered logos, as it is a bit much given that the branding is all over the elastic waistband - cut that, cut the cost to have it done, and pass the couple of bucks savings on to the customers. I am looking forward to seeing how they perform over the long haul under more extreme conditions, and will probably pick up the matching top for next hunting season.

Great Base Layer

Great base layer, great fit, long enough for my long legs. Breaths great and dries fast.
